The laboratory occupies approximately 1600 square feet of space located in the A-level of The Center for Health Sciences Building. The laboratory has 11 full time research scientists with more than 60 years of experience in immunological testing methods.

The laboratory is equipped with the following equipment:

  • BD FACSCalibur System capable of performing 4-color flow cytometry


  • BD FACSCAN used for basic flow cytometric studies

  • Roche Elecsys 2010 automated immunoanalyzer for serum/plasma endocrine testing

  • Olympus AU400R chemistry analyzer for routine chemistry testing

  • Beckman Coulter AcT Diff hematology analyzer for performing complete blood counts and differential counts

  • Beckman Beta counter LS1800 for monitoring lymphocyte proliferation

  • Medtec Autoblot 3000 System used for HIV western blot testing



  • Pasteur Diagnostics LP35 ELISA washer

  • Bio-Rad model 550 ELISA plate reader



  • Abbott Laboratories IMx System for beta-2-microglobulin testing

  • Twenty three ultra-cold freezers for long-term storage of serum/plasma specimens

  • Seven temperature controlled liquid nitrogen tanks for long-term storage of viable peripheral blood mononuclear cells

  • Mutiple Sorvall centrifuges and Baker biosafety hoods
