Fellowship Training:

Dermatopathology Fellowship

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine offers one-year accredited fellowships that provide intensive training in all aspects of dermatopathology to prepare trainees for an academic or community career in the field.  Fellows trained in dermatology do an ACGME-approved combination of months of dermatopatholgy and months of pathology with an emphasis on those fields most relevant to dermatopathology.  Fellows trained in AP or AP/CP likewise do a combination of dermatopathology months and months at UCLA's prestigious Dermatology Clinic.  All fellows are provided with the highest level of dermatopathology training including daily sign-out of many extremely challenging consult cases and a high volume of routine cases from community dermatologists and the hospital's inpatients.  A broad range of ancillary studies including immunohistochemistry and molecular pathology are routinely employed by the service.  Extensive opportunities for basic, translational, and clinical research are available including collaborations with UCLA professors studying a wide spectrum of clinical and basic science disciplines.  Educational opportunities are limitless.  Three fellowship positions are available beginning July 1, 2008.

Requirements: Board eligible in AP, AP/CP, or dermatology.  A California Medical license is required.

Applications: Please contact Fellowship Coordinator to receive the requirements and application, submit a curriculum vitae and arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent to:  Scott W. Binder, MD, Program Director, Dermatopathology Fellowship, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, 10833 Le Conte Avenue, Room A7-149 CHS, Los Angeles, CA 90095-1732.  Applications should be received by February 1 for the year preceding the fellowship.
