
Dr. Yong is an experienced neuropathologist with special histologic and molecular expertise in brain and pituitary tumors. He has strong consultative skills in neuromuscular disorders and in non-neoplastic central nervous system lesions.
A graduate of the UCLA School of Medicine, he trained in pathology at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where he worked in the molecular neuro-oncology laboratory of Dr. David Louis. For his work there, Dr. Yong won the American Association of Neuropathologists Lucien J. Rubinstein Award in Neuro-oncology.
He completed his neuropathology training at UCLA with Drs. Harry Vinters and Anthony Verity. He was the Director of Neuropathology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for eight years before returning to the UCLA Medical Center. He collaborates with researchers in the brain tumor, pituitary tumor, stroke and dementia programs resulting in clinical advances with guide individual therapies for these disorders.
