Dr. Cortina is Chief of Gastrointestinal Pathology at Geffen-UCLA. He trained with acclaimed G.I. pathologist Dr. Klaus Lewin and has emerged as one of the leading gastrointestinal pathologists in Southern California.
Dr. Cortina is well known for his expertise in the evaluation of dysplasia in Barrett’s specimens and cases of inflammatory bowel disease—two of the most challenging areas in medical gastrointestinal pathology. Additionally, he has a special interest in the evaluation of difficult biliary tract tumors.
Dr. Cortina chairs a well-attended weekly interdisciplinary G.I. conference at Geffen-UCLA and is very knowledgeable in the clinical practice of G.I. medicine. His insights into the treatment of G.I. diseases and neoplasms make his consultations especially relevant and widely sought.
