The goal of the Immunopathology Training Grant is to support pre-doctoral fellows whose work bridges the gap between immunology and pathology. All students complete courses in cell biology, molecular genetics, and a core Pathology course in which instruction in basic pathologic concepts such as inflammation, tissue repair, and basic mechanisms of disease are presented. In addition, trainees complete additional advanced courses in immunology and immunopathology. The latter lecture/reading course introduces students to various disease processes that affect or are mediated by the immune system. As a result of this training, students will learn to integrate findings at the cellular and subcellular levels with systemic processes and develop an appreciation of translational research.
