RECOGNITION AWARDS

CMP students and postdoctoral fellows are recognized for their achievements during their training program. Some of the awards available in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UCLA are available to CMP students.

Dr. Harrison Latta, professor emeritus, and his wife, Lya Cordova-Latta, established the Lya and Harrison Latta Fund for the Advancement of Pathology, an endowment to benefit research and education in the department.

  • Sarkaria Fellowship: CMP: $2,500 award For - most outstanding student entering the CMP program through ACCESS.

  • Sarkaria Fellowship - Postdoctoral : $2,500 For - most outstanding postdoctoral fellow entering the department.

  • Sarkaria Award for Outstanding Research: $2,500 and designation as Sarkaria Fellow (awarded annually): For - best published paper by a CMP Student.

  • Sarkaria Award for Outstanding Postdoctoral Research: $2,500 and a Certificate of Recognition: For - best published paper by a Postdoctoral Fellow.

  • Excellence Award for Outstanding Coursework Performance: $250 and a Certificate of Recognition: For - best academic performance in the CMP Program’s required coursework.

  • Award for Timely Completion of Advancement to Candidacy: $250 and a Certificate of Recognition: For - each CMP student who completes the Oral Qualifying Exam during the time stipulated by the Program

  • CMP Graduate Student Representative Award: $250 For - outstanding service to the program by outgoing student representative.
